Senior Business Systems Analyst (Accounting/Finance, D365)

Dessert Holdings is looking for a Senior Business Systems Analyst to be based out of company headquarters in St. Paul, MN. The company is currently in the process of integrating five separate legacy ERP systems into a single ERP platform, Microsoft Dynamics D365.  As a Sr. Business Systems Analyst specializing in accounting operations and proficient in Microsoft Dynamics 365, this position will play a pivotal role in leading the Finance workstream to optimize financial processes, streamline workflows, and ensure accurate reporting within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Business Process Analysis:  Conduct a thorough analysis of existing accounting workflows and collaborate with stakeholders to understand their process and requirements and identify areas for improvement. 
  • System Configuration and Customization:  Using prior expertise in D365, configure and customize the system to meet accounting requirements; implement changes to workflows, reports, and dashboards; and implement system upgrades, patches, and enhancements.
  • Requirements Gathering and Documentation:  Elicit and document detailed business requirements from accounting stakeholders, translate into functional specifications for system configuration and development, and maintain comprehensive documentation of system configuration, customization, and integrations.
  • User Training and Support:  Develop and deliver training materials and sessions to educate accounting staff on system functionality and best practices and provide ongoing support to users by troubleshooting issues and acting as a liaison for issue resolution and system enhancements.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting:  Extract and analyze accounting data from D365 to support financial reporting and decision-making, develop and maintain standard reports and dashboards for accounting stakeholders, and identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for process improvement by analyzing data.
  • Compliance and Risk Management:  Ensure adherence to internal controls within accounting processes implemented in D365, identify and mitigate risks, and support internal and external audits with documentation and explanations of system configuration and process.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Information Technology or equivalent experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in a business systems analyst or similar role, with a focus on accounting operations, preferably with a process manufacturer, specifically in Microsoft D365 surrounding the following core business processes:
    • Recording to Reporting
    • Acquire to Dispose / Capital project accounting
    • Invoice to Cash
    • Invoice to Payment
    • Tax
    • Consolidation and Eliminations
    • Foreign Currency Management
    • Hire to Retire
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with data analysis tools and reporting techniques with deep understanding of Microsoft Excel
  • Experience working in a multinational or multi-entity accounting environment.
  • Familiarity with other Microsoft technologies such as Power BI, Power Automate, and Azure services.
  • Project management experience or certification (e.g., PMP, Agile).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities effectively.

  • Ability to adapt and change in a fast-paced, growing environment; dealing with ambiguity
